I am, admittedly, a little giddy due to self-enforced lack of alcohol (try it, seriously - even water is a treat), but I think describing Margaret as "Handmaiden of the Dark Lord" (week 8) is a stroke of genius.

Hello. I work at UCL and have been trying to look for your thesis. I can't find anything called Constructing ab initio potential energy surfaces for the ro-vibrational spectra of water or anyone called Sophie Kain on the UCL or ULL catalogues, where all UCL PhD theses recorded. I did however find someone called Jacqueline Sophie Kain who wrote a thesis called Constructing the perfect ground state potential for water in 2001. Is this you and is this in fact the title?

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

Sophie, please contact me. I have a business I am trying to develop that will be of interest to you.
Congratulations on the ethical stand you took. It was great. You have opened a long overdue debate and paved the way for others to think more carefully about what they are prepared to do to make a buck.
I am however, interested in 'wealth creation' - since it is only by creating genuine wealth (as opposed to just money) that we will be able to create a better world. My business is about teaching people to create that wealth ethically, by changing themselves before they change the world and by thinking more clearly about the issues they face.
For your interest, I am an economist with an MBA working for a PhD in Strategic thinking, (you can be a geek and a business tycoon at the same time!) but primarily writing a book about a new model of strategic thinking that I have developed during an exhaustive and exhauting period of 7 years of research. I am looking for energetic young people to work with me to teach the model and to develop the business. Your fame and the stand you have taken will give the business the start it needs.
Best wishes

On a lighter note, I've been enjoying seeing you on the screen so much Soph and it's with a sick sense of pride that I can say "You know that Sophie girl off the telly? I stabbed her once."

Gerri's firing

Agreed, from Gerri's website it does seem unfair that she was fired. However, I do think her boardroom performance was dreadful, and I also think that it's important that whoever wins The Apprentice be able to talk to Sir Alan in that kind of situation. So I think that given that boardroom, it was the right decision. She could so easily have saved herself, but she didn't.

I thought Naomi was brilliant in the boardroom, and not really passive. She made her points and was the first to bring up Jadine's disruptive effect on the team. She was only quiet when she had nothing to say, and that often worked in her favour. At one point the women degenerated into a shouting match, and she wasn't part of it.

It seemed at the end Stealth sold kisses because they couldn't think of anything else. With hindsight, do you wish you'd put more thought into the evening service at the planning stage the previous evening? The boys had the same problem, of course.

Did you consider doing face-painting for adults in the evening? Sometimes drunk girls will think it is a laugh to have their face painted, especially if it makes them look cute.

Did you spend a lot of money on the face-painting materials? I gather you were giving away balloons and lollipops, in addition to the paints themselves. Did you have a lot left over at the end?

Hey Soph; just back after a couple of weeks away; not sure three episodes of the Apprentice in one day was the best way to re-acclimatise to the UK, but it worked; looking forward to the next one now. Barely knowing what day it is mitigates against asking you any tricky physics questions, though there's a question about unladen swallows and velocities that has puzzled people for a long while that perhaps you can help with.

Hi

It's always nice to find Apprentice candidate websites. The editing of the show seems to focus on the mistakes rather than the clever bits and gives a misleading impression, so it's good to get behind the scenes reports which can balance that. For example, we see Ghazal freeze but we don't see what Gerri did to recover and get the big sale. Did Gerri do that without any preparation, or was the plan always for her to close?

I've wavered a lot in my assessment of candidates but at the moment I think I'm one of your biggest fans over at the IF Forum. The programme did make it clear to me you had only bought 65 litres of milk, rather than 200. That was still controversial in that Andy had said to buy 20. Do you know how much you actually used in the end? If the Stealth van had done as well as the Eclipse one you'd have needed a lot more than you did - something not everyone realises.
